About Cheese Fondue :

Cheese fondue is a dish with a rich history and cultural significance. It originated in the Swiss Alps, more precisely in the canton of Fribourg, in the late 19th century. Originally, the dish was invented by Swiss farmers to make use of stale bread and leftover cheese during the long winter months. The name “fondue” is derived from the French word “fondre”,” which means “to melt”
The dish became popular in Switzerland in the 1930s and soon spread to other parts of Europe and the United States. It quickly became a symbol of Swiss culture and tradition and is now enjoyed all over the world.

Different variations and ingredients of cheese fondue :

There are many different variations and ingredients for cheese fondue, depending on the region and personal preferences. The most traditional and popular type of cheese used for cheese fondue is Gruyère, a hard, nutty Swiss cheese. However, other cheeses such as Emmental, Appenzeller and Comté can also be used.
To make a cheese fondue, the cheese is melted with white wine and garlic in a fondue pot or caquelon, a special pot for melting cheese. In some recipes, kirsch is added to give the dish a slightly sweet flavor.
