Ingredients
Cake:
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ¼ cup baking cocoa
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Frosting:
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ ounces softened cream cheese
- ¼ cup baking cocoa
- 1½ tablespoons milk
- ⅛ cup butter softened
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
Instructions
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2. Combine flour, baking cocoa, sugar, salt, and, baking soda in a bowl.
Step 3. Add water, vinegar, oil, and vanilla. Mix until well combined.
Step 4. Pour into greased two 6-inch baking pans.
Step 5. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the middle of one of the cakes comes out clean, for about 30 minutes.
Step 6. Allow the cakes to cool completely before you frost them.
Step 7. Beat butter and cream cheese in a bowl until fluffy and light.
Step 8. Add the confectioner’s sugar, salt, cocoa, vanilla, and milk. Mix until well incorporated.
Step 9. Frost the first layer of cake, then place the second layer of cake and top with frosting.
