Cooking the Classics: Moussaka Recipe Revealed
Moussaka is a traditional Mediterranean dish that is popular in many countries, particularly Greece and Turkey. This hearty casserole is typically made with layers of sautéed eggplant, potatoes, and ground meat, all topped with a rich and creamy béchamel sauce.
To make moussaka, the eggplant and potatoes are sliced and lightly fried until tender, then layered with a spiced meat mixture made with ground lamb or beef, onions, garlic, and tomatoes. Once assembled, the casserole is baked until the top is golden brown and the flavors have melded together.
