Ingredients
- 3 large eggs
- 1 (15.25 ounce) package of devil’s food cake mix
- 1 ¼ cups water
- 3 ¼ (1.4 ounces) bars chocolate-covered toffee, chopped
- 1 (8-ounce) container of frozen whipped topping, thawed
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ½ (14-ounce) can sweeten condensed milk
- 8 ounces caramel ice cream topping, divided
Directions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease the bottom of a 9×13-inch glass baking dish.
Step 2: Combine cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs in a large bowl with a mixer on medium speed until well blended. Pour into prepared mold.
Step 3: Bake in preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes. cool for 5 minutes on a wire rack. Cut shallow slits on the top of the cake; make sure they do not touch the bottom of the pan.
Step 4: Meanwhile, whisk sweetened condensed milk and 6 ounces of caramelized sugar in a saucepan over low heat until the mixture is smooth. Slowly pour the mixture over the warm cake and let it soak in. set aside 1 to 2 tablespoons of chopped chocolate toffee for decoration; sprinkle the remaining toffee generously over the entire cake.
Step 5: Let the cake cool completely, then frost it with whipped cream. Decorate the cake with the reserved toffee and drizzle with the remaining caramel icing.
Step 6: Refrigerate until cake is cooled through, and serve directly from the pan.
