Homemade Currywurst: A Flavorful Journey Through Germany’s Iconic Street Food
Currywurst is often served with a side of French fries or bread rolls, and is a popular lunch or snack option throughout Germany. It is especially popular at street food markets, festivals, and sporting events, where it is typically sold from food trucks or small kiosks. Some restaurants and fast food chains also offer their own versions of currywurst, with different types of sausage and sauce combinations.
Ingredients:
- 4 bratwurst
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon coriander
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions:
Step-2. Place bratwurst onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle bratwurst with olive oil and sprinkle with curry powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, ground cloves, salt and black pepper.
Step-3. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bratwurst is cooked through.
Step-4. In a small saucepan, combine ketchup, honey and water. Simmer on low heat for 5-7 minutes until sauce thickens.
Step-5. Serve bratwurst with sauce.
