Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup butter, salted
- ½ cup full-cream evaporated milk
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup white granulated sugar

Instructions
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2. Grease a 6-inch round cake pan.
Step 3. Cream white sugar and butter with an electric mixer until fluffy and light.
Step 4. Add eggs one at a time, and mix well after each addition.
Step 5. In a bowl, sift flour, salt, and baking powder.
Step 6. Combine milk and vanilla in another bowl.
Step 7. Add the flour mixture and milk mixture to the creamed butter mixture.
Step 8. Alternate the additions. Start and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
Step 9. Transfer the mixture to the prepared cake pan.
Step 10. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the cake comes out clean, for 30 minutes.
Step 11. Allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
Step 12. Then turn the cake out and transfer it to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Step 13. Top with powdered sugar and fresh berries if desired.
