Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
  • 3-4 tbsp ice water
  • 2 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes, halved
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sugar, for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the chilled butter pieces and use your fingers to rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse sand.
  3. Gradually add in the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together into a ball. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, toss together the sliced apples, grapes, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a rough circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Arrange the apple and grape mixture in the center of the dough, leaving about 2 inches of dough around the edges. Fold the edges of the dough up and over the fruit, creating a rustic, free-form edge.
  7. Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg, then sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  8. Bake the galette for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the fruit is tender and bubbling.
  9. Let the galette cool for a few minutes before serving. It’s delicious on its own, but can be served with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra-special treat.

Not only is this apple-grape galette delicious, it’s also incredibly easy to make. With just a handful of ingredients and a little bit of prep work, you can create a dessert that’s sure to impress your guests.
